Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has made it clear that he has no intention of running for president in 2027 and will not contest against President Bola Tinubu.

This clarification came in a statement issued by his media director, Michael Ohiare, who described as false and misleading a viral video suggesting Bello had begun campaigning for the 2027 presidential election. The video in question, according to the statement, was from a 2022 rally but was recently re-shared online with misleading claims.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that Yahaya Bello has no presidential ambition for 2027,” the statement read. “He remains firmly committed to the re-election of President Tinubu, who has performed admirably despite global economic challenges.”

Ohiare dismissed the video post as the work of mischief-makers attempting to create tension and fabricate division between Bello and Tinubu. He pointed out that the original 2022 date was clearly visible on banners in the video, making the deception even more obvious.

He also criticized the continued efforts by detractors to smear Bello’s image and pit him against the president, stating that such attempts have consistently failed.

“This recent attempt to pass off a two-year-old rally as a current event is nothing but a desperate effort to stir conflict,” Ohiare said. “Nigerians must be vigilant and not fall for the antics of those who spread baseless stories to serve their own agendas.”
