Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has announced his renewed ambition to contest in the 2027 presidential elections, pledging to end what he calls a cycle of bad leadership in Nigeria.

Speaking in a recent interview, Adebayo declared that his mission is to ensure that President Bola Tinubu will be remembered as “the last bad leader Nigeria will ever have.”

The SDP flagbearer criticized the prevailing culture of resignation and passive hope among Nigerians, where citizens complain about poor leadership yet do little to bring about meaningful political change.

“Nigerians have been murmuring from Jonathan to Buhari, now Tinubu — always pointing fingers, but not taking enough action to elect good leaders,” Adebayo said.

To break this pattern, he emphasized the need for a complete overhaul of how politics is played in the country.

“If you listen to politicians, it’s always the same story — blame the president. But the real change begins when we change our politics, make it ethical, transparent, and welcoming to credible Nigerians,” he said.

According to Adebayo, the SDP is already leading that transformation. He urged citizens to support a political system built on integrity, not money politics.

“We don’t need a president to resign or be removed to fix Nigeria. What we need is a reformation of our political culture — and the SDP has already started that process,” he added.

He called on Nigerians not to remain bystanders in governance but to actively participate and raise the standards for leadership.

“We’re building a party for the people. If the people raise their expectations, good leaders will rise, and those unfit will fall away,” Adebayo affirmed.

He also commended the current SDP leadership, including National Chairman Shehu Gabam and National Secretary Olu Ogunloye, for steering the party in a people-focused direction.

“Our politics is centered on the Nigerian people and the realities they face. We want SDP to be the platform for real change,” he concluded.

Prince Adebayo’s message is clear: it’s time to stop waiting for change and start being the change — and he’s asking Nigerians to join him through the Social Democratic Party.
