Nigeria’s cyclists delivered another impressive performance on Day 2 of the ongoing African Continental Track Championship in Cairo, clinching five medals in a show of skill, speed, and teamwork.

Team Nigeria continued their winning streak at the 2025 African Continental Track Championship on Monday, securing a total of 3 gold and 2 silver medals across various events.

  • In para-cycling 1Km Time Trials, both male and female cyclists won gold medals, underlining their dominance on the track.
  • The Women’s Junior Team added another gold in the Team Sprint, showcasing rising talent in Nigerian cycling.
  • In the Women’s Elite category, Nigeria took silver medals in both the Team Pursuit and Team Sprint events.

Reacting to the performance, Bashir Mohammed, Technical Director of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), expressed optimism for more podium finishes.

“The championship continues tomorrow, and expectations are high for more medals before the event concludes. The team’s performance is a testament to their dedication and teamwork,” he said.

Beyond the medals, the Nigerian cycling team’s success in Cairo stands as a story of determination and national pride. Their achievements reflect the rising profile of non-traditional sports in Nigeria and the growing talent pipeline for future international competitions.
