Panic swept through the Grow Homes Estate in the Chikakore area of Kubwa early Monday morning after a group of heavily armed kidnappers invaded the residential community, reportedly abducting several individuals.

The attack, which occurred between 12:00 am and 1:30 am, left residents in fear as the assailants held the estate hostage for over an hour. Witnesses say the local vigilance team was overwhelmed during the ambush, prompting distress calls to security operatives.

One resident recounted seeing a man and a woman taken by the gunmen. However, the woman was later found within the estate at daybreak, apparently released by the abductors under unclear circumstances.

“The incident happened around midnight. Those guys were heavily armed and outnumbered the estate security. The police eventually arrived around 1am, and there was an intense gunfight that lasted about 30 minutes,” the resident said.

The community is now calling on the Federal Capital Territory Administration and law enforcement agencies to bolster security in the area.

“We’re begging the government to repair the access road so patrol vehicles can reach us faster. We also need a permanent police station nearby for quicker response,” the resident added.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the number of persons abducted or the status of any ongoing rescue operations.
