In a decisive offensive against criminal elements across Nigeria, the Defence Headquarters has announced the rescue of 65 kidnapped victims and the arrest of over 80 suspects during joint military operations conducted throughout May 2025. The operations, targeting terrorists, kidnappers, oil thieves, and logistics suppliers, spanned all geopolitical zones, delivering significant blows to criminal networks.

North East – Operation Hadin Kai

In Borno and Yobe States, coordinated assaults by troops under Operation Hadin Kai resulted in the rescue of 22 kidnapped victims and the arrest of 16 collaborators linked to terrorist groups. Over six terrorists were captured alive, while several others were neutralized during intense engagements.

Troops recovered a substantial cache of arms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), as well as vehicles, motorcycles, and over ₦38,900 in cash believed to be proceeds from illicit activities.

North Central – Operations Safe Haven & Whirl Stroke

Operations across Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, and Taraba States led to the rescue of 11 kidnapped victims and the arrest of more than 20 suspects, including extremist elements. Several armed confrontations ended with terrorists neutralized.

Troops confiscated a range of weapons and ammunition, motorcycles, livestock, and cash totalling ₦534,600. Notably, a raid in Nasarawa State uncovered military uniforms and arms hidden in a suspect’s residence, highlighting the extent of infiltration by criminal networks.

Additionally, 12 individuals managed to escape from terrorist camps and were rescued by security forces during follow-up operations.

North West – Operation Fasin Yamma

Security operations intensified in Sokoto, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Katsina States. Troops rescued four kidnapped victims, eliminated several terrorists, and arrested three suspects during various encounters.

In separate raids in Niger and Sokoto States, a female accomplice of terrorist groups and three additional suspects were apprehended.

The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability across the country, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through official security channels.
