Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Adedeji Akeem has been honoured by the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) for providing pro brono lectures to the university for five years.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO), CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday, October 2, 2025,quoted the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Mathew Adamu,as commending Akeem’s passion and consistency.
The Acting VC said giving back to society in such an intangible but invaluable way was a lesson for all Nigerians.
According to Adamu,people who give back to society should be recognised and celebrated, “as contributions like this can not be measured in monetary terms because they carry enormous value for the nation.”
He noted that such selfless service was worthy of emulation.
Also,the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended DCP Adedeji Akeem, who is also the Force Procurement Officer, for his commitment to nation-building and service to humanity.
The IGP noted that the recognition of DCP Akeem,which was celebrated at the Sultan Maccido Institute for Leadership, Peace and Development, University of Abuja, alongside others, was a wake up call for all Nigerians to share their endowed knowledge with others free of charge.
The IGP described Akeem’s sacrifice as an embodiment of patriotism and charged officers and men of the force to emulate his shining example by embracing professionalism, discipline, and excellence in the discharge of their duties.
In response, DCP Akeem expressed gratitude to the university for the recognition and reaffirmed his service to humanity.
He donated some books he authored to the university in support of its academic programmes.
