Sauka residents in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), have decried the bad state of their roads and have called for intervention by the Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA).

They said the deplorable roads have continued to affect their individual lives and daily activities.

A resident, Mrs. Hassana Umar stated that the roads are impassable, especially after heavy rainfall, thereby making them very difficult to access the neighborhood.

Another resident, Mr. Musa Ibrahim said it is always difficult to ply the roads in the area, especially at night because of their bad state.

“There is always traffic congestion along the axis mainly because of the bad roads and little space to pass through” Ibrahim said.

Another resident, Mrs. Amina Suleiman said the bad roads have affected the social and economic growth of the area.

“Places like Gwosa are much better because their roads are wider and accessible but in our area, pedestrians and vehicles push for space,” she said.

She pleaded with the FCTA to address the bad roads in the area.

While advocating for a way forward, Mr. Philip Okereke, a civil servant, called for quality construction and renovation of bad roads, which over the years have led to mud-filled and slippery roads after every rainfall.

“Roads linking to the Sauka community are not suitable for vehicles because they are not tarred. We are therefore pleading with authorities to include our roads for rehabilitation and construction to alleviate the plight of the residents”,he said.
