Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a nationwide weather forecast warning of dust haze, thunderstorms, and moderate rainfall from Monday through Wednesday, urging citizens to remain cautious and take safety measures.
In its three-day weather outlook released Sunday,November 2,2025,in Abuja, NiMet projected slight dust haze over Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, and parts of Kaduna on Monday,November 3,2025 while other northern states will experience generally sunny conditions.
The agency noted that isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of southern Taraba during the afternoon and evening, while the central region will see sunny skies with intermittent clouds. Later in the day.
Benue and Kogi may experience isolated thunderstorms, with the southern states likely to have light morning rain followed by cloudy to rainy weather.
NiMet further highlighted the likelihood of late-morning thunderstorms over Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos, with moderate rainfall expected later across the southwest and southeast, including Ondo, Edo, Ekiti, Osun, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta States.
For Tuesday, November 4,2025,the forecast indicates sunny and hazy conditions across the northern region, while southern Taraba may experience afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
The central states—including Kogi, Benue, and Kwara—are expected to have sunny skies with patchy clouds, transitioning to isolated thunderstorms later in the day.
The southern region will begin with cloudy skies over Ogun, Lagos, and Cross River, before developing thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in the afternoon and evening, affecting areas such as Edo, Enugu, Ondo, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta.
By Wednesday, November 5,2025,NiMet anticipates sunny skies across the north and partly cloudy weather in the central belt, with thunderstorms likely later in the afternoon or evening over Kwara, Benue, and Kogi. In the south, morning cloud cover will give way to moderate thunderstorms across Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
The agency cautioned motorists to drive carefully as dust particles may reduce visibility and air quality, particularly in northern states.
It also advised individuals with respiratory or asthmatic conditions to limit outdoor exposure during hazy periods.
Airline operators were urged to obtain updated weather information and flight briefings from NiMet to minimize disruptions due to adverse conditions.
