The female linguistic student of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi(NSUK),Miss Monica Nyior, who, her family alleged last week that she was ‘abducted’ by the police,is being detained by the X-Squad of Force Intelligence Department (FID) for alleged screening an offender ,the familly lawyer has revealed.
It would be recalled that
family members alleged that Miss Monica Nyior was ‘abducted’ by the police in Abuja on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 and her whereabouts had remained unknown.
However, the family’s lawyer, Barrister Peace Christopher has revealed that the female student was being detained by the X-Squad of the FID for allegedly screening an offender(to hide, conceal, or obstruct evidence to protect an offender from legal punishment).
The lawyer told our reporter over the phone that Miss Nyior was accused of releasing dogs on some policemen who came for the arrest of a suspect at her Lokogoma home,a claim, the female student vehemently denied.
Christopher said efforts were on to secure her bail, but given the stringent conditions attached, the family was yet to perfect the bail.
He listed her bail conditions as two reliable sureties which:
▪ One must be an officer of a federal government establishment on grade level 12 or above,
▪The person should produce his/ her letter of last promotion and an introduction letter from his/ her office,
▪ National Identity Card and current office identity card; and
▪ The second person must be a responsible person with a house within the Abuja vicinity with a C of O, resident in Abuja, and possession of an international passport.
The lawyer alleged that the female student was sick and in a critical condition in the police custody “but the police are insisting on the fulfilment of the bail conditions and that they are using her as a soft target to track another suspect”.
Efforts to speak with the Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO), CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on the incident proved abortive as calls and SMS sent to his phone were not responded to.
