Parents on Saturday,November 22,2025,rushed to the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Bwari, Abuja, to evacuate their children over security concerns.

According to AFP on Sunday, tense scenes emerged outside the school entrance, with parents hauling baggage, assisting their daughters in packing, and arranging immediate transportation home.

Many students, some still wearing their uniforms, loaded their stuff into vehicles, while others assisted classmates who had not yet finished gathering their belongings.

The rush followed the Federal Government’s announcement on Friday,November 21,2025,to close down Federal Unity Colleges nationwide, including FGGC Bwari, due to rising insecurity in many regions.

The directive was issued in a circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education which was later debunked by the spokesperson for the ministry,Boriowo Folasade.

Binta Abdulkadir had named the schools as follows:

North-West:
FGGC Minjibir, FTC Ganduje, FGGC Zaria, FTC Kafanchan, FGGC Bakori, FTC Dayi, FGC Daura, FGGC Tambuwal, FSC Sokoto, FTC Wurno, FGC Gusau, FGC Anka, FGGC Gwandu, FGC Birnin Yauri, FTC Zuru, FGGC Kazaure, FGC Kiyawa, and FTC Hadejia.

Northeast:
FGGC Potiskum, FGC Buni Yadi, FTC Gashua, FTC Michika, FGC Ganye, FGC Azare, FTC Misau, FGGC Bajoga, FGC Billiri, and FTC Zambuk.

North-Central:
FGGC Bida, FGC New-Bussa, FTC Kuta-Shiroro, FGA Suleja, FGC Ilorin, FGGC Omu-Aran, FTC Gwanara, FGC Ugwolawo, FGGC Kabba, FGGC Bwari, FGC Rubochi, FGGC Abaji.

Southwest:
FTC Ikare Akoko, FTC Ijebu-Imusin, FTC Ushi-Ekiti, and FTC Ogugu.
