The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Women Affairs Secretariat has sealed Divine Hope Orphanage and Less Privileged Home in Kagini, Abuja, following concerns over its operations.

The closure forms part of an ongoing investigation by the Secretariat to ensure compliance with child welfare regulations.

Announcing the closure in an official statement on Monday, January 5, 2026, a director in the Secretariat,Dr. Idris Yahaya Attah (JP), said:”This is to inform FCT residents and the public that Divine Hope Orphanage and Less Privileged Home, Kagini, Abuja has been officially sealed effective Monday, 5 January 2026, pending investigation into its activities concerning children.

“The proprietress, Mrs. Grace Ebele Chibuzor, absconded with an unspecified number of children to an unknown destination without notifying the Child Development Department, FCT Women Affairs Secretariat. “

According to the director,investigations revealed the orphanage’s reported link to the recent case of stolen four siblings from Ado, Nasarawa State to Gwagwalada, Abuja.Abuja.

They are Joefreey Kasal Asoja – 11 years,
David Mtsewe Asoja – 7 years,Joy Elsan Asoja – 4 years and Joseph Asoja – 2 years, who were happily reunited with their biological parents on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The statement said investigation was also on to locate one Mr. Anderson Archibong (Executive Secretary, National Council of Child Rights Advocates of Nigeria (NACCRAN) now at large for alleged illegal child movement from Benue and Nasarawa States into Abuja for unauthorised fostering/adoption.

It advised anyone with relevant information on their whereabouts to contact the nearest security agencies immediately.
