Abuja-based rights activist and social critic, Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, also known as ‘Buhun Barkonu’,who died last Saturday, has been buried in his residence at Kpaduma 1,Asokoro district, Abuja.
His remains were interred on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, following his death which became public knowledge, with family and associates condemning misleading reports about the cause of his death.
Prior to his burial on Tuesday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Youth Stakeholders (FYS), an umbrella body of the indigenous people of Abuja, had condemned a news report on the demise of the social critic and activist, describing it as misleading.
In a statement on Monday, September 15,2026,the General Secretary of the FCT Youth Stakeholders, Comrade Zakari Gambo Babale, said most stories circulating in the mainstream and social media about the cause of the late activist’s death were not true but calculated to tarnish the image of the deceased.
He said the stakeholders had questioned the source of the information, which some online media reported that he died during a “sex romp” in a hotel in Abuja.
According to Babale, anyone who knew the late Yusuf, either as a family member or a close associate, could attest to his underlying health issues, but “We wonder how some media outlets attributed the deceased’s death to sexual impropriety without evidence”.
The late Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf reportedly died on Saturday morning at his private residence in Kpaduma 1, Asokoro district of Abuja, after a cardiac arrest.
