The Inspector-General of Police(IGP),Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the provisional posting of two Commissioners of Police (Compols) to new commands pending final approval by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Those affected are the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Commissioner, Ajao Saka Adewale,who has been moved to Gombe State while his Kogi counterpart, Miller Gajere Dantawaye,is the new FCT Police boss.
Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP),Wilson Aniefiok Akpan, will hold forth at the Kogi State Police Command.
No reason has been advanced for the deployment but the postings are contained in a Police Situation Report (SITREP), referenced TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB.6/213, circulated to all zonal and state commands, formations, and departments of the Nigeria Police Force.
It reads partly:”Posting of senior officers. The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the provisional posting of the following officers as indicated against their names: To CP FCT – Compol Miller Gajere Dantawaye; To CP Kogi – Decompol Wilson Aniefiok Akpan pending the approval of the Police Service Commission (Polscom)”.
Though the Force Public Relations Officer (FPR0),Chief Superintendent of Police(CSP),Benjamin Hundeyin is yet to issue an official statement or respond to calls place to him on the development, the postings effectively signal the removal of Ajao Saka Adewale as the Commissioner of Police for the FCT.
The directive warned that no officer assuming a higher duty post should adorn the rank associated with the new position until formal approval is granted.
It would be recalled that Adewale assumed office in March 2025, succeeding Assistant Inspector-General Tunji Disu, who was redeployed to head the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.
On his part,Dantawaye was appointed as Kogi State Commissioner of Police in January this year before his recent redeployment.
