Present Ahmed Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigeria Governors Forum(NGF) on Monday evening,July 28 2025 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock,Abuja,showered the WAFCON champions,Super Falcons and their technical team with national honours of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
The President, while receiving the players and the technical team at a special reception, commended them for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage”, saying the victory couldn’t have been more historic.
The president, who earlier received the trophy from Rasheedat Ajibade, gave each of the players $100,000 in Naira equivalent.
In addition,the president gave each of the players a 3-bedroom flat at Renewed Hope Housing Estate.
Tinubu said: “On behalf of the grateful nation, I hereby confer on the players and the 11-man technical team national the honour of OON.
“I hereby allocate a 3-bedroom apartment to each of the players and technical crew at the Renewed Hope Housing Estate.In addition, there’s a cash award of the naira equivalence $100,000 to the 24 players and equivalence of $50,000 to the technical team.
“Once again, I congratulate you, and I will continue to pray for you,” he said.
He said he did not want want to watch the final match between Nigeria and Morroco, saying he didn’t want to have high blood pressure.
Also, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) rewarded the players and the technical team with N10m each.
The event marked a significant moment in Nigerian sports history, celebrating the team’s commitment, resilience, and outstanding performance on the continental stage.
