The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has visited Garam and other communities that border the FCT, Niger and Kaduna states to check the wave of reported kidnapping and banditry.
The Police Commissioner who was accompanied by senior officers of the command, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations as well as men of the Anti-Kidnap Unit of the command, led by ASP Umar Mustapha,said the tour was aimed at boosting police presence, assessing operational deployments, and ensuring the safety of residents in the strategic locations.
According to him, the tour formed part of the command’s ongoing efforts to prevent cross-border crimes and strengthen its capacity to respond swiftly to emerging security threats.
During the tour, Dantawaye paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Bwari and the Esu Bwari, where he emphasised the importance of community partnership in sustaining peace and security.
While reaffirming the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property,he urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely andvcredible information to the police.
The Commissioner told the monarchs that the FCT Police Command remained resolute in its mission to ensure the safety and security of all residents of the territory.
He added that the command would continue to prioritise community engagement, intelligence-led policing, and strategic deployment across the FCT.
Dantawaye, therefore, encouraged FCT residents to always reach the command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938, in case of any suspicious movement of persons or activity in their area.
He also inspected various police formations and deployment points, including the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, during the tour.
