Detectives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man,Ahmed Abubakar, suspected to be an ammunition supplier to bandits operating in Zamfara State.
The suspect was picked up by officers of the Command’s Tactical Team at about 3:30 p.m. on December 7, 2025, following “credible intelligence.”
Abubakar, originally from Gusau but residing in Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, was allegedly working with associates in the North-West to supply ammunition to criminal groups.
According to a statement on Wednesday,December 10,2025, by the FCT Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Josephine Adeh, Abubakar had been in contact with another suspect, Yusuf Mohammed, as part of a plan to purchase 1,000 rounds of ammunition intended for bandits.
The Command also said that further findings also linked the operation to Abubakar’s uncle, Ahmed Yakubu,believed to be a key accomplice and is currently on the run.
“Investigators believe the uncle sent Abubakar to source and transport the ammunition to Zamfara, where bandit groups continue to terrorise rural communities”, the statement said.
The Command added that the suspect is in custody and undergoing further interrogation, while efforts were intensified to arrest the fleeing accomplice and “dismantle the entire criminal network.”
It reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to preventing criminal activities and protecting residents across the FCT.
