‎The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified proactive crime prevention measures through special church patrol operations across forested and border communities of the territory.

‎In a statement issued on Monday, the spokesperson of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation was part of efforts directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, to guarantee the safety of worship centres and residents during the ember months.

‎Adeh explained that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, in collaboration with personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups, conducted the patrol on November 9, 2025, covering forested corridors linking Bwari–Kaduna State, Bwari–Niger State, and Gwagwalada–Niger State.

‎According to her, the day-long operation, which ran from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., was aimed at deterring criminal elements, strengthening community confidence, and ensuring that worshippers can gather without fear of harassment or attacks.

‎ “During the patrol, church leaders were engaged and reassured of the Command’s unwavering commitment to their safety and that of their congregations.

“They were also sensitised on the importance of maintaining vigilance, limiting late-night religious activities, and promptly reporting suspicious persons or movements,”Adeh said.

‎She stated that the CP has ordered the blocking of identified access routes frequently exploited by kidnappers and bandits as part of a broader intelligence-led strategy to secure border areas.

‎Adeh disclosed that strategic security posts within forest zones remain active and under close supervision, while coordination among sister agencies has been strengthened to sustain peace and safety across the FCT.

‎The Command reminded residents that security remains a shared responsibility and urged continuous cooperation with the police and other security agencies.

‎ “The CP assures residents that the FCT remains safe and that the Command will keep adopting dynamic strategies to ensure a crime-free environment for all,” Adeh added.

‎Residents are encouraged to report emergencies or suspicious movements via the Command’s hotlines: 08032003913, 08068587311, 08107314192 (CRU), or directly to the Public Relations Officer on 07038979348.
