The Federal CapitalTerritory (FCT) chapter of the ”Take It Back Movement” has strongly condemned the abduction of its member, Mr. Haruna Israel and his friend, by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force(NPF)at the entrance of the Magistrate Court, Kuchiyako, Kuje in the capital territory.
In a press release signed on Tuesday October 28, 2025, by the FCT Coordinator of the group,Comrade Moses Andrew, those abducted were at the court in solidarity with human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore on Monday, October 27, 2025, when they were violently whisked away by armed officers.
The group said it was worrisome that the police claimed to have no idea about their whereabout, thus, pointing to an abduction.
The coordinator said: ”Following their abduction, the Kuje Divisional Police Officer (DPO), who was reportedly the team leader during the arrest claimed that the comrades had been transferred to the FCT Police Command. However, upon visiting the FCT Command today, our members were redirected to the Abattoir (SARS Office), where officials again denied knowledge of their whereabouts.
”As of this moment, the location and condition of Comrade Haruna Israel and his friend remain unknown, and all efforts to trace them have been met with deceit, silence, and bureaucratic evasion.
”This situation heightens our concern that they may be facing torture or other grave violations in the custody of rogue police operatives”.
He added: ‘Take It Back Movement holds the Kuje DPO, the FCT Police Command, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, fully responsible for the safety and immediate release of the abducted comrades”.
The group described the police force as a tool of oppression, one that routinely terrorises peaceful citizens instead of protecting them.
”We reject and resist this culture of impunity that treats lawful activism as a crime. The abduction of innocent citizens is not only unconstitutional but an affront to every democratic value Nigeria pretends to uphold.
It, therefore, called among others an immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Haruna Israel with his friend and a full disclosure of their current location and physical condition.
The Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Police Command was yet to issue an official statement on the matter at the time of filing this report.
