The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is currently compiling a comprehensive list of ground rent and other levies’defaulters before any clampdown as the deadline for the grace period for defaulters to pay expired on Wednesday.
FCTA’s Director of Press, Mrs. Rabi Musa Umar, who confirmed the development to our reporter on Thursday, November 27,2025, said the compilation is to determine those who have paid and those still in default before further action.
She ruled out any further extension of time, saying the FCT Minister, Mr.Nyesom Wike, had made it categorically clear that there was no longer any extension for the defaulters to pay and that the organisation would keep to the minister’s order.
“There is no room for extension. What we are doing now is compiling the list of those who have paid because a lot of people responded while others are still paying.
”So, in all good conscience, we can not go and start enforcement without sorting out those who have paid and those who have not paid, “she stated.
According to her, many defaulters paid during the time of the announcement and are still paying.
Umar added that it is after payments were made that “we will sift chaff from grains”and, thereafter, go after those still in default.
It would be recalled that on Monday, November 24, 2025, the minister gave the last warning to the defaulters and declared that enforcement would commence immediately after the expiration of the grace period, being Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
