The owner of the property on
Plot 81,Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 2,Abuja,housing the popular entertainment outlet, Cubana Lounge,Mr. Collins Onwuzulike has taken possession of the property with the assistance of court sheriffs.
He took possession of the property on Tuesday, December 9,2025, after overcoming intimidation from suspected thugs to carry out an eviction court order on the property.
The court sheriffs and a detachment of police officers had arrived at the lounge owned by businessman and social media celebrity, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana at about 8 a.m. on the fateful day to carry out the eviction order and return the property to the rightful owner.
However, some people believed to be hired thugs tried to stop the eviction by attacking the court sheriffs.
The suspected urchins attacked the court staff after the policemen that accompanied them to carry out the enforcement, mysteriously disappeared.
Despite the police action, the court sheriffs put up a stiff resistance and continued the enforcement of the court order.
On Tuesday morning, properties belonging to the Lounge, including industrial generators and air conditioners, were being dismantled and evacuated from the building under the supervision of the court sheriffs.
Some members of the staff of the Lounge were also seen loitering around helplessly as properties were being evacuated from the building.
Last Friday, a document indicating the enforcement of eviction order was prominently pasted on the building.
It would be recalled that court sheriffs had last month executed an eviction order on the property following a court judgment that confirmed Mr. Collins Onwuzulike, the proprietor of SEMC Investment Ltd,as the landlord of the building.
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Gwagwalada, had in a judgment in July 2025, granted the right of possession of the property to Onwuzulike after deciding that he duly purchased it from one Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze at an agreed sum of N2 billion with the Power of Attorney and Deed of Assignment, which transferred ownership to him duly executed with effect from May 1,2024.
The Court noted that despite the execution and transfer, the claimants were not able to take possession of the property.
The Court presided over by Justice J.A. Aina, therefore, granted the rights of the claimants to possession and use of the property at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, having duly purchased the property.
It also ordered the defendants to immediately vacate the property and also ordered the Inspector General of Police(IGP), FCT Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to assist the claimants in lawfully taking possession, occupation and use of the property as the ownership belongs to them.
But some claimants to the property had obtained an order from the FCT High Court, Bwari, stopping the landlord from taking over the property, which Tuesday’s eviction order, followed the lapse of the court order.
Having successfully carried out the eviction order on Tuesday, Onwuzulike finally took over the property as the key to the building was handed over to his lawyer, indicating full possession.
