The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), has donated four 50-seater hybrid buses to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to strengthen Abuja’s public transportation system.
The gesture also aims at advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Receiving the vehicles on Thursday, August 14,2025,on behalf of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, the Mandate Secretary, Transport Secretariat, Chinedu Elechi, applauded the Federal Government and the PCNGI for delivering on their commitment within 24 hours.
“It was just yesterday(Wednesday) when we discussed the donation at the National PCNG Programme on Gas.You promised to deliver four super 50-seater hybrid buses—CNG and AGO—and today, they are here. This is exactly what the Renewed Hope Agenda is about”,he said.
According to him, the buses, with a combined capacity to move over 200 passengers at a time, would ease mobility, reduce dependence on private cars, and complement the FCT’s expanding transport infrastructure.
“The Minister has always said that no modern city can survive without a strong public transportation network. This is why the FCT Administration has been building roads, bridges, and bus terminals.
“We recently commissioned two modern bus terminals at Mabushi and Kugbo, and these buses will support those facilities,” he added.
