Key figures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including sitting governors, former governors, and senior party officials, convened in Abuja on Monday for a high-level meeting. The gathering was spearheaded by the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
In attendance was the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alongside several PDP governors including Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Peter Mbah (Enugu).
The meeting also drew prominent former governors such as Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Achike Udenwa (Imo), Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), and Samuel Ortom (Benue).
Party leadership was well represented with the PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun, former caretaker chairman Ahmed Makarfi, and members of the National Working Committee present.
While the agenda was not disclosed to the media, this marks the forum’s second public meeting in 2025 and the first since the defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his cabinet to the All Progressives Congress (APC)—a move seen as a significant political shift.
Political observers see the meeting as a potential strategy session aimed at stabilising the party and charting a path forward ahead of future electoral contests.
