President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),Mr.Nyesom Wike, have mourned the death of Mrs.Grace Adayilo, the pioneer Head of Service of the Federal Capital Administration (FCTA).
In his condolence message,Tinubu commiserated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Ezenwa Wike and also extended his sympathies to the children, family, loved ones of the late Mrs. Adayilo,the FCTA’s management and staff.
The president prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and wished her family, friends, and colleagues the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
In his message, the FCT Minister,Mr. Nyesom Wike expressed sadness over her death, describing it as a sad one and “pathetic”.
The minister who expressed his grief during a media parley on Monday morning described the deceased as a hardworking woman, who,he had pleaded with the president to extend her tenure due to hard work.
“The late FCT Head of Service was very hardworking, I pleaded with President Tinubu to extend her tenure due to her hard work.
“If I had gotten the information on her demise earlier, I would have put off this media chat. Her death is really sad and unfortunate.
“Sometimes, you don’t even know what to say. I never heard she was sick. Just as I was coming, I was informed by my Chief of Staff what happened. And I asked if she was sick, but he said no, that she normally preaches in the church, but yesterday, she was unable to do so.She was feeling the signs of high blood pressure and all of that. Before they rushed her to the hospital, they confirmed that she was dead, “Wike said.
He described her passing as unfortunate and painful.
Mrs. Adayilo passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.
A dedicated public servant, she previously served as Education Secretary of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
She was appointed by Wike as the first FCT Head of Service, following President Tinubu’s approval of a new civil service structure for the FCT.
