The Minister of the Federal CapitalTerritory (FCT), Mr.Nyesom Wike has announced the rehabilitation of 73 Government Secondary Schools across Abuja as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at transforming public infrastructure and expanding access to quality education.
Wike made the disclosure on Tuesday,October 7,2025,during the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the 15-kilometre Old Keffi Road, stretching from Kado Village to Dei-Dei.
He said the huge investment in school and road infrastructure demonstrates the President’s commitment to delivering on his promises to Nigerians.
“Out of 103 Government Secondary Schools in the FCT, 73 are currently under rehabilitation, while 33 more projects will soon be flagged off.
“Out of 105 ongoing projects, 73 are located within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and the city.
“This administration is working hard to change things for the better for Nigerians and the people of Abuja,” he said.
The Minister explained that the Old Keffi Road rehabilitation is one of several major interventions approved by President Tinubu to ease traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, and boost economic activities across FCT communities.
He recalled that when the President assumed office in 2023, one of the emergency projects he approved was the rehabilitation of Saburi 1 and Saburi 2 roads.
According to him, the current project fulfills a promise made to residents and traders during that earlier commissioning.
“When we commissioned the Saburi Road, I said it could only be complete if this Old Keffi Road from Kado Village to Dei-Dei was also rehabilitated.
“Today, to the glory of God, we are here to fulfill that promise made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Wike said.
He commended the Chairman of the AMAC,Mr. Christopher Maikalangu for consistently advocating for projects that directly benefit residents.
“That is what true representation means—choosing leaders who understand your needs and are committed to pursuing them,” Wike said.
“Chairman Maikalangu deserves your continued support for the sake of continuity,” he stressed.
Wike urged residents to remain supportive of the Tinubu administration, warning them not to be misled by politicians who “failed to deliver when they had the chance.”
Highlighting the scale of the ongoing development, Wike revealed that the FCT Administration had lined up 27 project flag-offs across Abuja — a feat he said “has never happened before.”
He added that the projects were tangible evidence of the President’s commitment to real development.
The Minister directed the construction company to prioritise local content by employing youth, men, and women from host communities to ensure they benefit economically during the execution of the project.

commended President Tinubu for his unwavering support for infrastructure renewal and for prioritising projects that directly impact citizens.
“This road is a lifeline that serves thousands of commuters daily, linking communities, reducing travel time, improving road safety, and stimulating socio-economic activities across this axis,” Mahmoud said.
